Trapped in a Death Game...
The sound of a pig monster could be heard in the plains of an open field, followed by the sound of something shattering.
However it wasn't glass that shattered, but the pig like monster that was now in light blue shards of light.
Nearby was a young boy with sapphire blue hair, wearing a grey shirt with a chest armor plate strapped in place. The boy was also wearing brown pants and black boots that also has some armor on the boots.
The armor was dark grey, and dented and scratched, like had been used or something.
In the hand of the boy was a bronze like sword, on his waist was a leather sheath. Above his head was a green icon, a bar of green near the side of his head, and above those was a bar that shows his level, HP and his name, Ryujin.
"L-Level 17...that should do it for today." Ryujin says with a sigh and sits down on the grass and looks up at the setting sky. The wind blowing past his hair, with waved slightly. His sapphire blue eyes stared off at the sky, as if he was looking for something.
"I can't believe it's been two months since this game was released, two months since the announcement...the announcement of this games inability to log out....two months, since me, and 10,000 other player were trapped, in Sword Art Online."
Ryujin lays back and rests his head on his hands as he watched the sky which was a beautiful orange as the sun was setting as he thought back to the time he first came to SAO...
Several weeks ago, Akihiko Kayaba, the creator of Sword Art Online, SAO for short, revealed that the log out button was removed, so no one could log off the game.
What's worse, the biggest problem was that if you die in the game....you die for real.
Ryujin could remember the fear he saw on everyone's face, the tears they bore in their eyes...it was something that even Ryuijn had on.
He was scared. Scared of dying, of never seeing his mom, dad or older sister again.
Which got him to think of the other warning Kayaba mentioned. If someone attempts to remove the Nerve Gear from the player's heads, that will kill them too.
It has been a week and luckily he was still here, which means his family got the news to not remove the Nerve Gear, which Kayaba said was all over the news, so everyone in Japan knew what was happening.
Ryujin hears voices nearby, he turns his head and sees a group of six players fighting monsters, most likely leveling up.
Some player decided to pair up to survive, which was smart. Then there were others that decided to play alone. Like himself. Ryujin knows he wasn't good with making friends. He was quite shy and nervous. He was worried he would mess up and get kicked off a party.
While alone, with no eyes watching him, he was pretty skilled. Nothing amazing. But just enough to survive on his own.
However he wanted friends. He wanted to be in a party, to help out other people.
Ryujin then sits up and puts the sword in his sheath and heads off to the Town of Beginnings, the first floor town that all players start off in.
Yeah, the first of one hundred floors in this game.
Which also got Ryujin to remember that Kayaba said that if anyone beats the 100th floor, everyone would be set free.
As Ryujin walked into the town, he walked over to a large building and went inside, which shows a large stone tablet that showed all 10,000 players. Though some names were blacked out...the dead players...2000 of them.
Ryujin heard that some had committed suicide while others were killed by monsters.
This was mostly due to the fact that the first floor boss room hasn't even found yet.
With a sigh, Ryujin leaves the building and heads off to the market to buy new equipment. It's one of the reasons he was level grinding for so long, but with such weak monsters, he had to level grind every day pretty much for that last two months
He approached the NPC shop lady, who greets Ryujin with a bow.
After a bit, Ryujin was now wearing a silver chest plate, armor gloves on his hands and his boots were leather with no armor on them. He even bought a sword with a silver shine to it.
"These should help me attack, defense and speed. And I still have enough left to get some gold left for food." Ryujin says heading off to a cavern where other players were at.
The boy walks over to an NPC, then his swipes his hand in the air which opens a menu and he orders food.
As Ryujin waited he heard some players talking behind him at another table.
"Have you heard? There's rumors of some monster around in the nearby forest. It's said to be really strong."
"Really? What kind is it?"
"I think it's a wolf monster, but it's fast, giving it the advantage in the forest as it can move around the trees."
"Wow, anything else about it? Like does it have a rare drop or something?"
"Heck yeah it does!"
Ryujin saw his food placed on the table and he starts eating. This was also something he noticed, while some people were scared, others seemed to be enjoying the fact they were in a game.
He couldn't quite figure it out, what was so great about being trapped in a game where you die for real? True he was excited to play Sao, but not with his life on the line.
After eating, Ryujin opens another menu where he pays for the food and heads out to a nearby inn building.
Once inside the inn, Ryujin heads up into a room where he opens his menu and and removes his armor equipment, leaving him in just his clothes. Then he removed his boots and gloves.
He walks over to the bed and lays down, closing his eyes to sleep. Which he was finally able to do as it was tough for the first month.
--The next day--
Ryujin was awake and already walking around the Town of Beginning. Not for anything particular, it was just that he loved looking at the town in the morning, the rising sun looked amazing on the buildings.
"I know it's just a virtual reality world, but it's really pretty." Ryujin says with a soft smile as he kept walking.
Just then, he heard someone running towards him. Ryujin turns and then sees a girl quickly warps her arms around his left arm.
"Hey sweetie! How's it going!" The girl has a really sweet smile on her face. She was wearing a red shirt with breast armor strapped around her upper body and was wearing an armor skirt that covered part of her thighs.
On her arms are armor gauntlets and even her boots are armored. On her back was a sword.
Her hair was a vanilla tan color, hair covering her forehead with hair held back a bit, and the hair was braided to near her lower back.
"Sweetie, please tell these guys that your my boyfriend~" The girl says, "They won't leave me alone."
Before Ryujin could say anything, he looked and saw a couple creepy looking guys staring down at him, giving him some glares.
"This really your boyfriend? He's shorter then us! And you!" One of them says. He was skinny with narrow eyes.
"Yeah, his forehead is up to your chin!" Another says, being more muscle based.
"I don't care, he's alot cuter then you two, and not scary...." The girl says kinda shyly as she hugs Ryujin's arm tighter, making the boy blush.
"Y-Yeah, so I politely ask you two to please leave m-my girlfriend alone." The boy says. True this girl wasn't his girlfriend, but he had to help her, she clearly didn't want to be near these two players.
"Tch," The skinny guy spat as he turns and walks off, "Whatever! Let's go boys!"
The skinny guy, the muscle guy and some others walk off, clearly annoyed.
"Um..." Ryujin looks up at the girl as she suddenly pulls away and her shy persona vanished and was replaced by a more serious face, as well as annoyed.
"Ugh! Can't believe I had to resort to the fake boyfriend crap!" The girl says is a disgusted voice.
Ryujin couldn't believe the sudden change! One minute she was shy and now she's, well, scary.
Just then the girl starts walking off, leaving Ryujin behind.
"Listen!" The girl turns, hands on her hips as she looked at Ryujin, "I did that just to make those creeps leave me alone, so you best stay away! Not scram!" She yells and turns around, walking off with her hands at her sides.
Ryujin had seen some scary monsters these last two months, and this girl was by far the scariest.
The boy was still kinda shocked by what happened. So much so, what was he supposed to do?
After some time standing there, which more players started to come out and fill the streets. And because of that, he lost site of the girl, so he decided to walk off.
"Maybe I'll just go level grind again...." Ryujin says, still kinda surprised by this morning's event.
To be continued...
